High-purity reference materials for accurate and reliable residue analysis.

Overview

Dinotefuran is an insecticide of the neonicotinoid class developed by Mitsui Chemicals. It is used for the control of various insect pests such as aphids, whiteflies, thrips, leafhoppers, leafminers, sawflies, mole crickets, white grubs, lacebugs, billbugs, beetles, mealybugs, and cockroaches on leafy vegetables, in residential and commercial buildings, and for professional turf management.

Uses

In addition to its use in agriculture, dinotefuran is employed in veterinary medicine as a flea and tick preventive for dogs and as a flea preventive for cats. It is often used in combination with pyriproxifen and/or permethrin.

Regulatory

In July 2013, the US state of Oregon temporarily restricted the use of dinotefuran pending the results of an investigation into a large bee kill.

Monitoring

Continuous monitoring is essential to ensure compliance with regulatory limits and to prevent potential environmental and health impacts.

Health Impact

Human Toxicity

Dinotefuran has a median lethal dose (LD50) of ≥2000 mg/kg (oral, rat and mouse).

Environmental Impact

Effects on Wildlife

Dinotefuran's use has been linked to adverse effects on bees, which has led to temporary restrictions in certain regions.

Safety Measures

Proper handling and application procedures should be followed to minimize risks to human health and the environment.

Regulation

Dinotefuran is regulated under various national and international guidelines to ensure safe use and to mitigate potential risks.
